In 1990, Shelly relocated to Florida to launch the Medical Hair Restoration and Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Center where she established protocols for hair transplant nurses, electrologist/laser hair removal technicians, medical estheticians, and hair loss department stylists. Shelly felt there was still more to learn about her career when she stumbled upon eyelash extensions in 2006. She was thrilled with this new and exciting avenue and devoured as much as she could. Shelly has always had an “open door” policy, in which she believes in sharing ideas and tips with those who want to learn. Shelly believes, “If you invest in yourself or your craft, there is nothing that you cannot achieve”. Shelly founded Lush Lash in 2007 and currently serves on the board of directors at the American Eyelash Association. Lush Lash also offers Scalp FX for clients experiencing hair loss.

Do I need to prep for my appointment?

​

Prior to your appointment at Lush Lash, try your best to arrive without any eye makeup. Please do not curl your eyelashes or wear any mascara the day before and the day of your appointment. This will help minimize the cleanup time and help you get back to what’s important.

Will lash extensions cause my natural lashes to fall out?

 

One of the biggest myths in the beauty industry is that lash extensions will cause damage your natural lashes. At Lush Lash, we have decades of experience with lash extensions and know how to safely and correctly apply the lashes. Eyelash extensions will not cause your natural lashes to fall out. Keep in mind that like the hair found elsewhere on your body, your eyelashes have a life cycle of growing and falling. However, as long as you avoid rubbing your eyes and tugging and pulling on your lashes, extensions will not damage your natural lashes or cause them to fall out. How long does it take to apply lash extensions?

 

Your lash extensions will be applied while you lay down comfortably in one of our serene lash rooms. The process usually takes about one and a half hours for a full set of lashes. The exact amount of time will depend on which set of lashes you want. During the application, your bottom lashes will be protected with a gel eye pad. The entire process is relaxing and non-invasive. We even have clients that take this time to nap and catch up on their beauty sleep!

How long will my lash extensions last?

 

Your lashes will last between 2-4 weeks depending on your exposure to humidity, steam, and how often you touch your eyes. If you wait too long to get a refill, you may require a full new set of lashes. When your lashes are 50-60% gone, it is a sign that you are due for a refill. Depending on the state of your lashes, refills usually take 45-60 minutes.

Can I apply mascara to my lash extensions?

 

Yes, but only apply water-based mascara. Avoid oil-based or waterproof mascara. Waterproof and oil-based mascara dissolves the bonding agent of the extensions and causes them to fall out sooner. We also recommend using a water-based makeup remover as opposed to an oil-based.

Can I swim, shower or exercise while wearing lash extensions?

 

Yes, but DO NOT wash your eye area for at least 24 hours. This is necessary to allow the bonding agent to fully dry and will prolong the life of your extensions. After 24 hours, you can swim, shower, and exercise. It is also important to not tan for 24 hours after application.

Will the eyelash extensions look fake? 

 

At Lush Lash, we provide our clients with a wide variety of lash styles. Eyelash extensions can be applied to look how you want. Some of our clients prefer a natural look, while others want a dramatic lashes. Your extensions will not look fake unless that is the look you’re trying to achieve.

How do I remove my extensions?

 

We can remove your eyelash extensions at any time. Stop by our lash studio to have your extensions removed in about 30 minutes.

How can I care for my lashes?

 

It takes a lot of time and money to get your beautiful new lashes. It is important to care for them properly to make them last and avoid any damage. To best care for your lashes follow these guidelines: 

• Do not perm or tint your eyelash extensions. 

• Do not use an eyelash curler (you won’t need to curl your extensions)

• Avoid rubbing your eyes and lashes when washing your face. Take off any eye makeup gently with a water-based makeup remover.

• Avoid pulling and playing with your extensions, this will cause your natural lash to come out as well. 

• Avoid saunas for 48hrs after application and avoid pools and showers for 24hrs. 

• Come in for touch-ups every 2-4 weeks to maintain your lashes. 

• Try to avoid sleeping on your face which can smash your lashes, instead try to sleep on your back or side.

What is Scalp FX?

 

Scalp FX is scalp micro-pigmentation that can restore a forgotten hairline in males and create thicker hair in women. Scalp FX gives men and women a renewed sense of confidence and helps lower anxiety related to hair loss. Scalp FX helps give the illusion of thicker hair by applying permanent ink to the scalp. This ink is applied using a specially designed needle. Scalp FX will not cause your hair to grow back, but will create the appearance of growing hair and a full head of hair.

How long does Scalp FX take? 

 

The treatment is spread over 2-3 sessions. The process is done in layers to achieve a natural look. Time for each treatment will vary for each person, but typically takes between 2-4 hours.

Is Scalp FX painful?
